Last year’s race weather definitely made up for the storms we had the day of our race in 2009. It was a beautiful day and great event. We had a good turn-out of runner and walkers of all ages. The annual event was created to promote fitness in Jackson County, as well as to give a helping hand to Jackson County Christmas Charities. In 2009, this event was named the "Carlos Serrano Memorial PHP 5K" in memory of the race’s founder and the previous President and CEO of Polyamide High Performance, Carlos Serrano. At last year’s race Polyamide High Performance’s President and CEO, Lowell Bivens, presented Jackson County Christmas Charities with a check for over $6,000.
Last year’s race featured for the first time a 1 Mile Kids Fun Run which we are excited to have again this year. A simultaneous race will also be held in Obernburg, Germany at the site of Polyamide’s parent company in memory of Carlos. A live video broadcast of the Obernburg 5K will be broadcast at the PHP 5K the same as it has been done for the last two years.
Those who have attended this event in the past will testify to this awesome event that truly welcomes people of all ages and skill levels. This 5K would not be a success without the help and support of PHP employees and so many others individuals and businesses. We cannot wait to see everyone at this year’s race!
